Minecraft PSX Documentation [2] - 01-01-24

I woke up after not getting much sleep and decided to continue my Journey into this mysterious copy of Minecraft, let's see how it goes. "Minecraft Playstation Edition" is a game developed by Mojang Studios in the Year 1998 in a partnership with Sony Interactive Entertainment for the Playstation Console released in 1994, this game was a pre-cursor to the classic 'Minecraft' of 2009, although not many people are aware of it due to it being pulled from store shelves just a year after release with only a 1000 or so copies ever being sold, I was lucky enough to stumble upon a copy at a retro game store about a month ago, here's my experience with the title. • 02/05/2024 @shibainu2528: 11:45 - Heres some food for thought (From an ARG perspective) That "sort" button in the inventory is the same icon that appears in Quark, a modern day Minecraft Java mod. And, if you were to find a large cave, you would be able to hear sounds echoing from somewhere else in the cave, which is another mod called "Sound Physics Remastered" or something. ... what if this game was either A) From a different world where those alternate mod developers made mods for the PS1 version of Minecraft, B) There is something supernatural with the disc that takes inspiration from various modern day things found in Java, or C) The mod developers in modern day know something we don't.

Both mod makers and mojang developers alike. So every time a feature is added, it’s somebody’s unconscious attempt to make Minecraft back into this version, compelled by… something.

• 02/05/2024 @ironpainting1210: Probably shouldn't believe that the game is original and not homebrew like the author says tho, its just his hunch and it requires far too many unrealistic assumptions for maintaining immersion in my opinion First, its very possible for homebrewers: FFVII on PS1 has 3 discs, use its jewel case and swap out the discs and covers for new ones Elbarnes' supernatural communication theory also requires far too many unrealistic assumptions for maintaining immersion in my opinion: far easier to think it was the work of homebrewers in the modern day. Just my thoughts ultimately, might not be immersion breaking or unrealistic for others so I don't mean to diss any theories too much, its a cool concept and ARG

• 02/05/2024 @cathacker13:  @MrCheezyBoi  I've heard rumors that notch's remake was supposed to initially just be a casual side project which he never expected to actually be feature complete, so he didn't write the engine as optimally as he could've and now we are still living with the consequences of that , giving the game a bad rep for its optimization even though the original was quite well optimized (because it had to be with the hardware they were working with)

I would not be brave enough to play this alone like you are doing, I would have even got rid of this game as soon as the creepy shit started happening. I swear there is something wrong with this specific version of the game, Minecraft has always been a bit of an eerie game on itself, but this version is just something else, it just feels like you are constantly being watched, followed or even hunted by something or someone. I think I kinda understand why mojang hid this version, or why it might have flopped for that matter, maybe even it got recalled, who knows.
• 02/05/2024 @anon1539: this version of the game is insane, seems like it was aimed to be an actual "horror" game with jumpscares, which is super cool since the actual title sometimes gets somewhat scary, but isn't marketed as such (unless the game is fake and not made by Mojang, which idk if it would fully make sense if it actually came out before yr. 2000)

• 02/05/2024 @shibainu2528: 6:38 - I've experienced something similar where I heard a phantom screech during the first night, which shouldn't be possible if the PSX version acted similar to modern Java edition (Which, since other things like powdered snow and iron / copper / gold behavior seem to be the same as well) Well, you get the point. • 02/05/2024 @Fishmen64: This is really well done and very entertaining, but I absolutely cannot take Herobrine seriously anymore. Also, to my knowledge the PS1 has no internal clock or any other way of keeping track of time so the time that the save was last played being listed on the file select screen is impossible. I could be very wrong about that though since I don't know a lot about the PS1.
• 02/05/2024 @someonecalledrichardthehuman: Finally an ARG that does stuff right, its not like its the most 100% original but this one actually does the job for me, FINALLY some good stuff Edit: Also, what really sells this to me is how it remembers me that back when I played MC when I was 6 I got serious sleep issues and migrain from not being used to the game's aesthetic and the warped and way more pixelly textures actually make me dizzy and a bit migraneous which is inmersive I guess lol.

It's not a huge issue, but the largest size that fits on my computer screen is a too small (for me personally), and the next size up is just barely too big to fit.

No it's not THAT minecraft, it was a DS game, and I had it for a while, i couldn't find it now but all i remember was: 1. It was some sort of weird multiplayer capture-the-flag game and might have also had some sort of other mode, i'm not sure 2. It looked a lot like this game but was made by a different company, some swede by "Mark" or something. (It also had this banger of a soundtrack, it sounded like it was done by Plaid or something) 3. I could never find anyone on local wireless to play with (no DSi), so i spent a lot of time roaming around empty maps waiting for players, today i would probably call it "liminal" 😂. 4. It's touch controls sucked
