"Minecraft Playstation Edition" is a game developed by Mojang Studios in the Year 1998 in a partnership with Sony Interactive Entertainment for the Playstation Console released in 1994, this game was a pre-cursor to the classic 'Minecraft' of 2009, although not many people are aware of it due to it being pulled from store shelves just a year after release with only a 1000 or so copies ever being sold, I was lucky enough to stumble upon a copy at a retro game store about a month ago, here's my experience with the title.

03/05/2024 @iitsAP: small thing- but i think the issue with the enchanting table is that it's trying to emit a purple light but the torch behind it is trying to emit an orange light. try removing the torch and that might fix the weird lighting

03/05/2024 @rocky_roadster: Screenshot is the big window on the right side of the mansion being built, likely the outside since they're using scaffolding.
Also, The screenshot was taken on November 16th 1998, while the 'official' release for pc was November 18th 2011.
Could that mean the game was near completion and it was released same day in 1998, with the PC version being a remaster of the PS1 edition for it's anniversary.

PS: I feel you on how annoying multi disc games can be, even more so when you have to constantly change discs and the discs get stuck on the case, don’t let it get to you!

09/05/2024 @KefkeWren: Glad we got the Nether and not the Slip. The Slip is scary as hell. Kinda makes sense, though. The Slip was based on The Ways from The Wheel of Time (the books, not the show), and the Ways were supposed to be more dangerous the longer you stayed there. So if the Slip was supposed to be more like The Ways, having it contain something like the entity "Machin Shin" would be pretty reasonable.
03/05/2024 @theminecraftace: I do wonder if a Japanese copy exists since I couldn't find pictures of one. These may be rumors, but according to archived forums, a revision 2 for the NTSC-U copy released in April 1999, and the back has readable English text like the PAL version. A supposedly planned Japanese version was cancelled in May 1999 due to the poor sales of the game.
Also, the unknown world is different again.

Also interested in seeing how the mansion ties in to all of this, it's interesting to note that the screenshot was taken before the last time the Unknown World was played prior to you checking it out.
11/16/98 vs 5/17/99. Considering the game also released in 98, I guess it aimed for a December release? But I also wonder who messed around with the Unknown World before you...
Also Coordinates in the screenshot? I wonder if it's possible to use those in some way

I recently played the game again for the 4th time, and when I went to go build my dock in a nearby a lake, there was a whole squad of mobs just burning up and hanging there!
but the weirdest thing about it, was there was a group of items that were laying by the entrance, it was like someone was here before and died in that area...
there was a bucket, some iron, and some other things I don't remember.
but the most noteworthy thing of the mysterious dropped items was a music disk...
I've built a juke box, but I haven't played the disk yet...
ill let you know when I find out and listen to it!
