07/15/2025 @maddoxio: The fact it's both making fun of "basic white girls" AND saying, "Hey, you have no idea how people function under grief, this isn't your story." is proof Bo is a GENIUS
04/15/2025 @Starling16: I thought this was going to be just another silly song and then he hits me with the freaking "I can't believe it it's been a decade since you're gone"
07/25/2025 @Wells13555: I always get choked up and them "give a hug and kiss to dad fucking DESTROYS ME".
If she's in an apartment getting married she's probably mid early 30s meaning she likely lost both her parents really early. God damn.
08/15/2024 @Caro_Kitty: I love the message behind this song. Sure this girls insta feed might be “basic” and even a little cringey, but so what? She’s expressing herself and it makes her happy
01/15/2025 @dude9318: Ya
04/15/2025 @coyotemadness: The humanization that comes in at "the favorite photo of her mom" makes the whole song. Brings me to tears.
06/15/2025 @TheYeetusMan726: Yes, but annoyingly, there's always those people who will nitpick and bully because they like it, people want to be themselves, but sometimes others make it hard
05/15/2025 @elysej91: That gut punch after the line, "give a hug and kiss to dad." 😭 This song is amazing!
04/15/2025 @drewneathway1482: This song does a beautiful job at having you laugh at your own perception of a stereotype, someone we all know and see, likely on your own insta feed, only to remind that this is a person, with her own struggles, with her own joys, and her own (sometimes redundant) story, and lets you see that person as the person she is
08/15/2021 @thaleiagreek3566: This song had no right to make me cry yet here I am, sobbing about some ladies dead mother
08/15/2021 @NotSergio_: Parents* :(
08/15/2023 @maxdekudess3354: IKR?? BRUH
08/15/2023 @Aaron_hirsch: fr
08/15/2024 @SEBASTIV: Actually it’s right is “free speech”
08/15/2024 @FlouryAcrobat2: This song is so stupidly sad...
08/15/2024 @FlouryAcrobat2: @SEBASTIV ???
08/15/2024 @Backinblackbunny009: EVERY
SINGLE
TIME
08/15/2024 @CocoBean.: SAME 😢
09/15/2024 @billyray4716: @SEBASTIV how deep in your dad's basement (no women loves ya) are you that you read an anecdotal phrase, commonly repeated, and feel the need to bring up politics in the comment section of a song not about politics
02/15/2025 @es029: The song feels like a parody in the beginning, and as the song goes on, you realize that it is a love letter to the sensitive white woman. And as far as the post dedicated to the fictional deceased mother, Bo always manages to sneak in a very emotional verse or line in his songs that hits you like a ton of bricks.
03/15/2025 @shadowflame9411: I’m missing my mom and she’s still alive :_(
07/15/2025 @adamsbricks4615: Y this make me cry bro
08/15/2021 @jenglish161: I cant overstate how much of an amazing piece of work this album is.
08/15/2023 @MrGarbage52: So fun fact: this used to outright be my favorite song in the special. No joke, I ADORED this song. And I still do but it has moved down for me over time. This song might just showcase Bo’s greatest vocals out of ANY song in both inside and inside deluxe. (Only other contender being the Chicken) I absolutely LOVE how this song tricks you into a false sense of security which is “haha we’re making fun of these people” only to then flip it around and change the entire perspective during the bridge to showcase the life of this woman behind the screen and that she is a real person with real problems and a real life. Its so unbelievably good. None of this is to even mention the spectacular set work done for the special itself. That had to have taken a while there’s so many unique ones. The instrumental is great, the layered vocals are incredible. There are not enough good things I could say about this song. The fact that there are 4 that I consider better is a true testament to the quality of this work put into this special
This song ranks #5 out of 32 in my personal ranking
08/15/2023 @user-px2ff2iq4e: i love your rankings
08/15/2023 @MrGarbage52: @user-px2ff2iq4e thank you. I’ve been a bit busy since I wrote the first batch of these. But I will continue soon with the next song and maybe get all the reviews done by the end of this month.
11/15/2024 @eq4742: I totally agree with the false sense of security thing, Bo is actually amazing at doing that. He does the exact same thing in Can't Handle This from Make Happy, he draws the audience in with jokes about Pringles and Chipotle, and then suddenly he hits you with real issues that are partially attributed to you, and you have no choice but to sit there and hear it, because he's talking to YOU now. I also love in this song specifically when the aspect ratio starts widening as she talks about real life, and it breaks down the façade put up by her social media personality. But then once she starts bringing up more self centered and superficial things like have a job and a boyfriend, the aspect ratio slowly moves back to 1 by 1 as she recedes back into her instagram persona. Like Bo said "Social media - it’s just the market’s answer to a generation that demanded to perform so the market said, here - perform. Perform everything to each other, all the time for no reason. It’s prison - its horrific. It’s performer and audience melded together."
(sorry for ranting, i'm literally writing an essay about this right now)
07/25/2025 @Wells13555: I saw another interpretation that builds on his thesis from his last special even deeply earnest expressions of grief are expected to be performance online. Everything is performance, even if you aren't intending it. Everything we do and feel is comodified into "content" for social media companies.
Even the thoughtful comments in this video are content.
08/15/2024 @horrifichannah: i can't believe that nobody ever talks about "give a hug and kiss to dad" ☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️
08/15/2024 @devate03: IT'S SO SAD I SWEAR WJSBAJS
08/15/2023 @Meepsalot933: 2:16 man this part really hit me hard thanks Bo for making me cry thinking bout my mom (rest in peace momma) during a song I was laughing about and following it up with goat cheese salad oh my goodness my emotions are like a Rollercoaster haha
08/15/2023 @Tmb1112: Goat cheese salad nearly makes the tears suck back in as the laughter hits XD
08/15/2023 @kleixieeee: "your little girl didn't do too bad" :(((
08/15/2024 @fizzle7421: Bro, the bit in this song about the dead mom and the song about FaceTiming with his mom really make me feel some type of way.
05/15/2025 @stubbington08: What's crazy, is he makes you laugh at the lady... Then brings more humanity and relatablity to the aforementioned "white woman" by telling us she lost her mom and is vulnerable and human. So the 3rd verse you don't want to laugh so much.
06/15/2025 @Italicrab: The way that I can't listen to this song without crying and she isn't even gone, it's just knowing that it will happen and there will be a time when I'll have to learn how to live without her
06/15/2025 @TheVintageVamp: Revisiting this album and I was thinking about how we're asked "is this heaven?" multiple times, and then we get a message sent to this woman's dead parents like it is heaven; she's creating her own heaven on earth to cope with her problems.
06/15/2025 @bodyaudyaudy8633: I literally cannot sing this song without crying about a hypothetical white ladies mom and dad
08/15/2023 @maxwellgrimsley: This woman’s new husband better treat her like gold or I’ll riot 😭🤚💕
08/15/2023 @ricardomora9913: This song sounds so good, cannot stop listening to it.
08/15/2024 @_emaxx611_matt8: I'm going to play this at my wedding so people feel embarrassed to record the ceremony
08/15/2024 @DeceitfulBeing: That sounds amazing but couldn’t you just tell the guests to not record? If you can’t, then do it and feel proud
08/15/2024 @outerspaceproduction: This song has no right bringing me to the verge of tears!!!!
08/15/2024 @Zwamp1fy: Quarantine nostalgia
06/15/2025 @TheYeetusMan726: Him talking about death makes me so sad, but its the truth... And yes, its a real thing and it cant be stopped, for someone who lost my aunt from cancer at 5, hearing about death is upsetting even then, my grandfather may be leaving us soon, and i cant bear the thought, but this song reminds me that i have to...
08/03/2025 @flostillplays: Yeah, we cant outdo death. So we should make our life the best Out of it with the people we love
08/15/2024 @ChickenCat27: I see so many people talking about her mom but not her dad.
08/15/2023 @madamemortuus: I have no words, this is just beautiful
03/15/2025 @ReturnOfMonke: My emotions before the mom photo section:🙂
My emotions after the mom photo section: ☹️
08/15/2021 @kmezih1250: why are here no comments wthhh anyways loving it, so awesome, inside is a masterpiece
09/15/2024 @Pickelle_Juice: Yeah, this is my favorite song in the inside album, and I'm tired of pretending it's not. What exactly are you gonna do?
03/15/2025 @KayanaJolley-t1r: I feel so close to this woman... Like I've known her forever... Were you there in my last life?
03/15/2025 @travisscheel9196: God i miss my mom..love this whole album❤❤
08/15/2024 @aJazzyBagel: Makes me cry. Every. Time.
04/15/2025 @nextgilmoregirls500: 0:21 ummm this is what I always search up before an English exam and I search up potatoes recipes right before an science exam 😮😮😮😮
08/15/2023 @joygimbel7760: How many times I laugh thinking of this on the gram 😂
08/15/2023 @publicservant3158: thanks bo i love you
08/15/2021 @mateocicero4989: I just love this
04/15/2025 @beaubowden1293: I came to the comments to see that surely I wasn’t the only one that this song made cry. I was not disappointed
08/08/2025 @orlandodavila545: I find it funny the comments are devoid of the realization that the heartfelt moment of the song is undercut by her self-serving nature to make things all about herself again.
09/15/2024 @WaaDoku: The funniest thing is that this doesn't attack white women or girls but upper middle-class spoiled brats of all kinds of backgrounds. But "Upper Middle-Class Spoiled Young Woman's Instagram" wasn't as catchy.
10/15/2024 @Bella-bn2lq: It actually attacks people who make fun of “basic” women if you actually listen to it
10/15/2024 @WaaDoku: @Bella-bn2lq Sorry, "attack" was the wrong word. It mocks or makes fun of them. That's a better expression. And I think I get what you mean, you're probably referring to this part here: 2:17. It's a clever deconstruction of this kind of satirizing he does in the rest of the song but I don't think it's enough to consider the whole song an attack on people who mock young "basic" women for being basic when the rest of the song does exactly that.
12/15/2024 @breannaleehollis1863: @WaaDoku It's supposed to use a stereotype to make you look deeper at a common trope. Something Bo is famous for
12/15/2024 @WaaDoku: @breannaleehollis1863 Indeed. A hallmark of comedy.
01/15/2025 @dude9318: @Bella-bn2lq still a funny song none the less
08/15/2023 @yunoisaiahtumaliuan1765: 4+ million views and 10 comments wth
04/15/2025 @JulieBrown-c4f: 10
07/15/2025 @JacobDunker: I just realized that he makes a reference back to egghead😂 3:20
02/15/2025 @TomfooleryDearBeans: How dare this song be so sad omg I'm sobbing
08/15/2024 @AnnabelleCantrell-m8t: Why is this so accurate 😭😭😭
12/15/2024 @jacobk5451: This song makes me cry every fucking time I hear it. Fuck lol
03/15/2025 @breannaleehollis1863: This song also reminds me of the trope that the biggest danger to a white woman is a scary dog that she can’t resist trying to pet and kiss. It would totally work on me. Would be a worthy way to go I think. 😂
08/15/2024 @rileypatterson7512: A perfect song for the boys.
10/15/2024 @rocioolaneta8722: Siempre me hace llorar en la parte de la madre😢
08/15/2023 @Jaxgotscared: Oh the mom part is so real frfr
07/25/2025 @GamerBoi_Vids: I know that the song is a joke (except for the woman's mom :( so sad), but DAMN, that "whiiiiiite wooomaaan. a white woman's instagram" got me feeling an emotion that doesn't exist yet
08/15/2021 @mia6705: Why is there only one comment—
07/25/2025 @flostillplays: Speechless they where
10/15/2024 @PuppetOfTheSea: My mom’s new fav song
07/15/2025 @CT-1533: Why was the mama part the saddest thing I’ve ever heard
08/15/2024 @Backinblackbunny009: @The_SarahFox the meme
12/15/2024 @breannaleehollis1863: "You cannot simply walk into Mordor."
05/15/2025 @JamesPerez-w4n: An avocado
06/15/2025 @Acorn905: Goat cheese salAAAD 🎶
08/15/2024 @NarutoUzumaki-ie9hz: Wait
05/15/2025 @DavidMuñoz-r5y: Are we sure the point of the song isn't that this kind of person would do anything and resort to anything just to get whoever's attention?
06/15/2025 @Acorn905: Yep we're pretty sure its not that
06/15/2025 @DavidMuñoz-r5y: @Acorn905 Then he was right. We think we know him.
08/15/2023 @genericname2948: ae
08/15/2024 @quentinallano5999: McFly et Carlito si tiktok girl avait pas flop xDDD
