The most obvious answer is most likely the correct one.
Don't overthink things. If something is happening and you can see it, it will look like it's happening because it is. What you see is what's happening.
Again, I read into things too much, but it DOES make sense.

The Lethe Protocol. "Lethe" is the name of a river in greek mythology whose waters cause its drinkers to forget their past. More generally, lethe" can also mean oblivion or forgetfulness.

11/06/2023 @SollidnitrogeN: @cup-o-joe4679 More likely it could be some kind of metaphor. It's been implied that Chris has made some kind of one-way journey that he can't go back from, by dying in lava and spawning at the other end of the fence.
To my knowledge, the river Lethe is directly tied to the Underworld, and I think this is a symbol for Andrew being put into some kind of Purgatory, where he'll have to free himself in order to help free his friend.

3:27 You can see the invisibility potion in Chris' invisible hand.
It's kind of hard to specify which tree to look at because it's very brief and the camera is moving. As Andrew spins around to punch the tree, there are a few trees in the background to the right of the tree he's punching. There's one whose top is about middle height of the screen that has trees on both sides of it that are further back and higher up on the slope. It's that lower middle one. Chris is standing on the top leaves block, the block of the cross formation that faces down the hill. It's the area up from the rabbit's head. That is where you will see the potion. Sorry for the convoluted directions, but it's genuinely hard to see if you don't know where to look. It's easiest to see in motion when you slow the video down because the potion sways slightly in a player's hands.
8:38 Top left corner of the screen finally has an angle showing Chris clearly.
You can get a sense of where he is from watching the unlisted video, "He is Still Here," which you get to by replacing the end of the youtube url (after the =) with "gdxC_4Ez3Es", which was the only subtitle on this video, appearing at 7:34.
For anyone that doesn't check, look at the subtitles options for every video in an ARG to see if there is an "English" track (or whatever the spoken language in the video is). Specifically just "English," not "English (auto-generated)"
"English" is a track added by the uploader. "English (auto-generated)" is just a bot-generated transcription.
You can't see Chris clearly in some angles that should include him, likely because he's using invisibility potions every now and then when the viewer isn't necessarily meant to see him. Likewise, Andrew is avoiding looking at that area unless he wants us to see him.
10:24 is again one of the clear ones. He's on top of the tree in the top right of screen.
