A long lost dead brother, that Notch claims he never had, yet is always removed every patch, as though he kept coming back.
Herobrine, ultimately, is just a trickster ghost.

I'm already getting more of that sort of vibe off of it and the points you make are pretty easy to chalk up as a coincidence? But I hope I'm not just being optimistic. :P
There's just so much Herobrine stuff out there already, I'd love to see something new in the Creepy Minecraft Thing narrative space that doesn't even mention Herobrine.

To be fair, Herobrine itself is less of a demonic presence the more dramatic depictions would say, and more of a trickster ghost.
We see seldom of said Trickster Ghost archetypes, really, but we also have hints of some other kind of force at play. An external one unrestricted to the computer, apparently.

06/06/2024 @Couriday: I've yet to watch the rest of these videos (watching them in order) but even as far back as episode 2 it's struck me as odd how, despite us hearing skeletons a few times, we've yet to see any. Then again, we haven't seen any creepers, either, so I'm not quite sure what to make of the hostile mob situation. Skeletons seem to be important, though, given the emphasis so far on waiting for crops to grow (can be done with bonemeal) and the 3 bones.

He definitely has a texturepack. He's playing on a newer version with shields and stuff, but the ui and some blocks have that classic minecraft textures.
