It seems that either Chris or a different party is presumably wiping Andrew's memory, along with his minecraft world/save data. Though this only appears to be capable of halting Andrew's progress temporarily, and it won't stop him from eventually discovering whatever it is, and what Chris/whoever wishes for Andrew to never learn.

11/06/2023 @dunmedi3781: Honestly, I see this not as a full-scifi plot, but rather as Chris' view within Minecraft itself. He's a ghost-in-the-machine, either within Andrew's copy of Minecraft specifically, or within the worlds they had created. I see this building he's in as a physical representation of the game's files, and this "Lethe-Protocol" is just something Chris has created as a means of accomplishing whatever task he needs done.
Now, that doesn't accommodate for what happens to Andrew as a result of this, and it still doesn't accommodate for what or who Chris is talking to during the video. Plus, Chris seems to be afraid of something at around 0:18 in the video, along with the subtitles "He's just gonna make the same mistake I did." Turning to the left and seeing an ominous and shady looking armor stand before backing away slowly. This could imply that, during Chris' time in the game, he encountered a being within the machine prior to his current predicament, which ultimately pushed him to his death in the well and subsequent entrapment in the game.
Well, either way, we still don't have much clues to make any conclusive thoughts, so I'm not gonna try. Anywho, thank you for listening to my Ted talk. I dunno why I was compelled to write this, but I just couldn't get it off my mind lol

Claiming that Chris is going to wipe the save data and Andrew's mind. There's something I would also like to point out here. The CC has Chris either talking to himself or to another person. Also, after he clicks yes for the second time, the tops left corner says "Subject136". Chris has tried to save Andrew from the same thing he has encountered, but after hundreds of tries, Chris starts to lose hope and starts to think that there is no point of trying anymore. Explaining why has Chris has mentioned in the video and also the description, "You are only prolonging the inevitable." After the everything turns to black the CC say, "A NEW DAY BEGINS" possibly referring to a next try to try this again.

the captions obviously don't sound like him, his skin (at least seen from the arm) is definitely the shadow figure that's been following him, and the aspect ratio of the video is different as well, it's slightly more wide-screen.
When it talks about him getting too far too fast, I have to assume it's either about the bones Andrew has been collecting or the progress into the depths he's making in this tower realm
which in turn, I think, means that all of those little scares from the shadow figure that have been happening throughout the series have been scare tactics to get Andrew to STOP playing out of fear.
if i had to guess what happened next, I feel like we might be getting a "normal", traditional upload of Andrew talking about this neat old world he wanted to replay in honor of his friend.
edit: I don't know how significant it is, but the description for this video almost feels like it implies there's a third person we don't know about. There's Andrew, obviously, then the shadow figure, and then I believe someone else making the descriptions, because if this is taking the POV of the shadow figure, what's written in the description almost seems like a foreign opposition, like "it doesn't matter, so why are you doing it?"
maybe an overseer? maybe Chris? maybe neither, and the shadow figure is just doubting himself.

11/06/2023 @somekinnn: Personally, at this rate i'd prefer sci-fi if it's not going back to the vibe of the earliest episodes, because the last 3 episodes (pictures of towers, leave, Gardens of the Sky) made me worried about the possibility that we would lose the connection with the creator of earlier episodes of the series and it would just be silent walking through setpieces with Chris drowning being treated as being this big, super secret twist (which it isn't if that does happen). If the series doesn't go back to the comfy but still creepy vibe of the earlier episodes, I'd prefer something at least more complex. I would still prefer something along the lines of earlier episodes ofc, but I really didn't like pictures of towers, leave, or gardens of the sky that much

Its like it wants to be both a mystery and a digital horror at the same time. Act 1 and Act 2 on their own suffer from their own set of problems. Act 1 has a complicated plot with about as much likable characters as a silent horror movie, and Act 2 has the dumbest excuse for 4th wall breaking ever. The 4th wall should only be broken in some instances for a good story, not broken so much that it is a core point in the plot. It makes what is in-character and what is outside it irrelevant as both have no more meaning in the story. Why would you feel paranoia when you see something off when the story has told you there is no stakes? Why would you care if new information is presented when you know it is all complete bullshit? It makes the story, lore, and characters irrelevant as you now have little way to know what is the actual plot of the series.

You pick up one you activate the entity, in this case the black figure which I presume to be Chris. But it also server to give the entity more power as you collect more of them, and once you collect all of them, the entity is beaten. 1. Andrew. We all know and love him.
2. Chris. Who we know is a kind of ghost in a machine that wants to save Chris. Notably he always writes fully and no contractions (IE “it is,” not “it’s.”).
3. HIM. The smiling dark figure that always talks in all caps, and seems to have been a kid playing Minecraft sent down a supernatural rabbit hole. He talks at the end of the subtitles in this video.
4. The character of this video, whose subtitles have contractions but are not in all caps. They also seem to have a dark Minecraft skin, like Chris and HIM.
5. In the description of the Realms video, someone writes in all lowercase, talking about the “garden in the sky.”
It seems like this stuff suggests a large operation by multiple shadowy figures, namely HIM, the character in this video, the lowercase one, and possibly Chris, involving Andrew and maybe many other people like him. Chris and maybe this videos figure seem to want to help Andrew, while HIM and the lowercase one possibly want him to suffer and become like them.
