Date and time unknown, however the year is definitely 2010. Source of the video may be [xorcist6898] or an affilated player. Now that some of them are with us, we have uncovered much more than we could have done initially.
"Even the "modern", latest iteration of the Hub went through numerous changes in textures - and some of them were there for more "special" occasions - such as player unsuspension and recruitment. This particular kind of look was reserved for all of those aforementioned categories of players, and couldn't generate in the "normal" Hub. Unlike the normal Hub, [0] insisted it have a single "External" image, unlike the multiple interchanging ones in the main Hub sections, which was probably one of the few decisions where everyone agreed with him."
"That reminds me, before the release of Version 10, [0] insisted to get various players who were not on the tests officially and only got to play them through unauthorized multiplayer sessions into the testing process itself, saying that they've already seen the game - to which [2] argued that they should unsuspend the hosts of those servers too, to which, surprisingly, [0] agreed."
"Now, I'm not making any promises, but I think I've found a trace of one other .jar file. I can't guarantee anything, but if I find it - when I get to look for it at all - I should be able to provide probably the most complete version remaining"
"We can only hope [0] doesn't check whoever accesses the old office"

11/06/2022 @four_am: No one talking about how he's got a recording of fighting the 17th Colossus, which is like one of the biggest gaming urban legends of all time? As well as that, the worm colossus is also one of the cut colossi that didn't make the final game. If this is supposed to be a legit recording in universe then it probably hints to the ARG taking place in an alternate timeline or something of the sort.
11/06/2022 @jacobwilks9204: It's in the name. ARG stands for Alternate Reality Game (if I'm correct).
11/06/2022 @praetai5461: i dont think that really has to be the case, we've seen the sotc secret seeker stuff on this channel before so the 17th colossus video is most likely a fake sent to him by someone on a forum or something
either that or the 17th colossus secret seeker stuff is somehow connected to lilypad and dev0, which would be a hell of a plot twist
11/06/2022 @puzzled_bug: i didnt know what that was and now that i do i understand why the dudes just watching it for no reason
also FIRST APPEARANCE OF A GAME BESIDES MINECRAFT BESIDES DESKTOP ICONS IN ALPHAVER ARG!!
11/06/2022 @Povilaz: Oh shit WHAT?
11/06/2022 @br3akcor35: the person in the video has a file called "SotC unlock 17th boss.txt" maybe it's one of those old fake tricks people would post on forums about how to unlock stuff (example: mew hidden in the truck)
11/06/2022 @codamnote3051: We got the Man @NomadColossus doing the thing
11/06/2022 @Kallichore09: @br3akcor35 Wait mew as in the pokemon?
11/06/2022 @br3akcor35: @Kallichore09 yeah, in the gameboy pokemon games (red, blue and yellow) there was a rumor that mew was hidden under a truck near the ss anne; since it's a videogame rumor similar to the 17th colossi, i put it as an example
11/06/2022 @armoredscout3773: also note the Domin secret dialogue video in the upper right. It might just be a master class shoutout, or a reminder that we need to keep our eyes open whilst watching this stuff. There's more than just minecraft on these recordings, after all.
11/06/2022 @ItsJesanime: oooo yes!!
11/06/2023 @shpoinkervr: YOOO I forgot abt that but yeah lol that's crazy
11/06/2023 @looooonooooooooooooooooooooong: @Arthur Ford but you literally have a minecraft pfp
11/06/2023 @KefkeWren: He also has docs and videos on his desktop about secret Dormin dialogue, and lore connections to Ico. So at least implied is that he's a LGS (Last Great Secret) hunter.
11/06/2023 @kekheh69: No one talking about how his PC name is "PISSMAN-PC"?
11/06/2023 @diegodankquixote-wry3242: Considering the game normally ends with 16 colossi, this this probably implying in this universe all 24 planned colossi are in the game.
06/06/2024 @mateoremedi4703: thr interesting part is that shadow of the colossus is about someone making a deal with god to bring someone back. I think that what this story is about
07/06/2024 @ImFangzBro: Well, if it's cut content, how much you wanna bet the recording is modded? Shadow of the Colossus was 5 years old at the time- you think there was a team like the one for the 1.0.16 alphas?
11/06/2022 @octonova292: The next thing to make this more genuine is to record with Fraps
11/06/2022 @vadiks20032: bandicam is better than OBS tbh
10/23/2024 @Ceresisathing: O
11/06/2022 @razi_man: Man, this is probably the best update to date (pun intended).
11/06/2022 @gibberishdump1610: the chat in the bottom right says something about a fortress mode which was something notch was actually thinking about adding to the game but in the end never worked on most likely in favor of community servers
11/06/2022 @legatelaurie: Minecraft was designed to be multiplayer from the very beginning tbf (and the first public versions were), so idk that Fortress was given up in favour of that, just that it didn't fit with the way development was going in terms of how the RPG systems went away alongside Rana, other Steves, and the ideas of Minecraft being anything but the more open sandbox we have today.
11/06/2023 @ev-topia: @legatelaurie are you talking about that ATK DEF SPD bars in that one old screenshot of survival test for the rpg systems?
11/06/2023 @legatelaurie: @ev-topia Yeah, that's a big part of it (I think, I can't really remember what I was basing what I wrote off)
11/06/2023 @lukapuka8320: he meant by dwarf fortress it's an game on steam.
11/06/2023 @gibberishdump1610: @lukapuka8320 no they obviously talk about dwarf fortress and fortress mode for minecraft as separate things
11/06/2022 @mine_nation6653: The way the music just gets louder the second he gets closer to iron door but when he enters the world its completely silent is just creepy
11/06/2022 @Couatl: i don't have enough time in my day to give ARGs much thought, but the aesthetics of this whole project are great
insanely cool vibe
11/06/2022 @milessoup9246: I love how there’s a Dev-member impersonator that is quite literally HAUNTING THE PEOPLE INVOLVED IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE GAME, and they are more scared of 0.
07/06/2024 @ImFangzBro: I mean, I would be. A guy trying to spook us with no actual connection? Or a dev with shady connections intimidating the rest of the dev team into compliance?
11/06/2022 @thechugg4372: So here's what I got from someone who binged everything from a casual point of view.
Dev 0 is super serious about this project (whatever the project is)
Dev 2 is dead
There's this xcorsim dude or whatever his name is which was a friend of a dev who got a copy of the playtests he shouldn't have.
I have no idea what's going on but I know this game had a huge scope.
11/06/2023 @Mate_Antal_Zoltan: lmaoooo you have not watched any of these videos have you
that, or you're bad at paying attention and reading
11/06/2022 @chellovibes: The ambience in the hub is really unnerving
11/06/2022 @adarts2025: Like the fact that I’m every moment it gets louder makes it more unsettling
11/06/2022 @vladthemountain: Happy anniversary, keep up the cool work
11/06/2022 @Lily-ed8fl: I know we're mostly talking about the lore or whatever, but when the started up, i think i could feel my heart drift into my stomach. God damn.
11/06/2022 @chinggiskhan6678: There's something being hidden, something which goes above and beyond the doors or the hub or the weird glitches. Notice how at the end of the video, parts of the world are cut out and blocked off as if someone edited them. In other videos, blurred frames appear inexplicably. According to the descriptions of this video, and many others, 0 is doing many, many things without the others consent, such as making changes. The description of this video talks about getting files from the old office, and describes 0 as someone trying to stop them. Now, why would 0 try to stop them from accessing these files? In fact, why is 0 so controlling, and where are all these strange cuts, blurred frames and edits coming from? Well, my theory is that there is something else lurking in this game, which is outside of 0's control, and which is negatively impacting the game. Perhaps they could be the shadow players. It's incredibly strange that there is a second alternate version of Minecraft, and even more so that it goes in a different direction than the official Minecraft. What I suggest is that the shadow players, are not the developers, at least initially. These strange shadow players, sometimes with no names, would appear alongside entire structures disappearing within moments. This doesn't suggest developer activity or interference, because it's insane to think something like that could happen so quickly within literal seconds of joining. These shadow players rather, are some kind of really fucking weird bug, verging on paranormal, which move around in single player world's. 0, the leader of the group, was most likely told by Mojang to assemble a small Dev team in secrecy to try to investigate, and then eliminate this bug, with creating an alternate version of Minecraft being used as an excuse for doing any of this. It explains the video edits, it explains why 0 refuses to tell the Devs anything, and it explains why the entire project is so secretive. If such a bug were known to exist, it may put people into a panic around using or buying Minecraft, as in the official version, this bug may exist as well (no one wants shadow people roaming their Minecraft Worlds). Assumedly, 0 helped find and eliminate the bug by testing with the alternative version, which explains why the project ended.
The only real question we have then, is what the hell this bug is. It's apparently such a devastating bug that 0 withholds information on the project to this day, but we don't know why he is withholding that information. The only solution then, is to raid the fuck out of the old office and take as much information possible, especially on untapped video tapes, as unedited footage of the bug has to exist somewhere in there.
Edit; It seems that 0 has now allowed hosting, and has allowed players to join. It seems like 0 has definitely fought back the bug, but for whatever reason it is still alive in this alternate version... Maybe the bug is like a computer virus which spreads across Minecraft versions, hopping from one to the other. So their only solution was to create an alternate version and lure the virus away from the official version, before then sealing it away. 0 now letting people join tells us the the bug has been for the most part, tamed/limited in scale, but if it is indeed a virus that jumps across what it thinks are official Minecraft versions, then 0 needs to be careful with it
11/06/2022 @Steve_MBG_TK456: This could mean that Herobrine wasn't a hoax after all. The screenshot on 4chan reporting Herobrine was in Minecraft Alpha 1.0.16_02, which is before these alternate versions were created. So Herobrine can be one of these shadow players that, possible due to another bug, used the default Minecraft skin. So this post can possibly explain Herobrine as well.
11/06/2022 @Maks7594: nice essay
11/06/2022 @pirilon78: @Steve_MBG_TK456 arent the _0X branches specifically from this arg?
11/06/2022 @salade2725: @Steve_MBG_TK456 1.0.16_02 was specifically from this ARG, 1.0.16_02 was the first of these versions to be diverted away from the main game. This means that herobrine isn't a hoax but that it was one of these "shadow players" or "viruses" as described.
11/06/2022 @AndrewIdot: parts of the world got cut off at the end since dj_p most likely pressed the render distance button. in alpha, you can press F (unless you changed your keybind) to change your render distance on the fly instead of pausing and going into the options menu.
this also indicates that dj_p uses the small render distance option when playing, however thats besides the point.
11/06/2022 @CreepersNeedHugs: @AndrewIdot this is actually xorcist's recording, as that is the login used in Consequences (which has the same desktop background).
11/06/2022 @AndrewIdot: @CreepersNeedHugs ah, my bad
11/06/2022 @yellowpig1026: @Steve_MBG_TK456 the herobrine siting could be the original one that led to mojang looking into this and starting the offshoot version
11/06/2023 @MisterPogman: @salade2725 wrong
look at the mc wiki versions
11/06/2023 @Jiub_SN: Hell no that would ruin this arg
12/06/2023 @DanTDMJace: @Steve_MBG_TK456 _02 makes even more sense, because it's the recruitment client in this universe. So, what if Herobrine was led into 1605 by a recruiter (but looking like a shadow player, hence the recruiter skin) and kept there?
11/06/2022 @user-leet37598: Things I think are interesting:
1. How many Hamachi windows are launched? I think it's abnormal. Unless our player just installed it but idk.
2. Our player most definitely knew, that he'll be unbanned, which creates a whole lot of questions.
3. [0] didn't even stop to look at a guy who JUST got unbanned. Further suggests something fishy. Like, if i were [0], I would wonder, how a guy got here this quick.
4. Damn the hub looks even cooler now
5. Why would [0] INSIST to not only unban players BUT ALSO allow hosting? Did somebody take ahold of [0]'s account (or accounts, including those for communication, or straight up his PC)? Was he forced? Idk who would force him or why, but still, really, really strange.
And then description says that "I should be able to provide probably the most complete version remaining" and wording kind of makes me expect a twist.
my head is prob overthinking too much but i cant help it
11/06/2022 @gibberishdump1610: also note the chat in the bottom right mentions something about fortress mode which was a mode notch was thinking about adding to minecraft but never worked on
11/06/2022 @EmilySillyDev: I think the extra Hamachi window is the chat in the bottom left. IIRC Hamachi did have a chat room and it did look similar.
11/06/2022 @jitslime21: @EmilySillyDev yea hamachi got chat.
PSA: Do not ping/whois the hamachi IP, it gives you literally nothing. Might become a server IP if the release candidate actually drops
11/06/2022 @obi6127: to answer your questions related to the unbanning, if you look at the right of the recording he is watching there is the mc window opened which is in the same world as in Consequences, and in that video there is a countdown timer. 0 initially said to accept the people who played on unauthorized sessions (dj_p in this case) because they've already seen the tests, and then he only agreed to unbanning the people who hosted said sessions, not brought it up. hope this helps!
11/06/2022 @EbolaGranola: NEW STAIRS SPOTTED: ESOTERIC ORANGE MYSTIC STAIRS
11/06/2022 @obi6127: do you have a discord? i wish to know more about the elusive stairs guy
11/06/2022 @mewnani: We found the Lemuria stairs, guys.
11/06/2022 @bsodaman: 1 year to a legend.
11/06/2022 @nata5212: I can only hope the beautiful music of the hub is released to us at some point.
11/06/2022 @hiphyro: Wow… 2 minutes long after a video posted recently, alphaver you’re too kind. Anyways I love the worldbuilding that one of these guys is a secret seeker due to that being a thing back then and being a likely trait of someone who would be into this stuff. Also, dev0 himself, wow. Just strolls right past too. The music is fun. Good video. Looks like there’s some new blocks? Release candidates too… and I wonder why it gets foggy on the last frame.
I read the description, the possibility of a new jar is great. good luck on finding it.
new thing I have realized:
Unknown version video was taken at a strange time near the disbanding of the team. We know the world seen at the end here is from Unknown version, but there is nothing built in it. I'm thinking xorcist had two worlds, the world with the house on the hill and cobblestone bridge, and the world from unknown version. And in Unknown version its probably also xorcist recording, and its been some time since this video, as he's built his house and everything.
11/06/2022 @mewnani: He pressed the 'f' key and lowered the draw distance.
11/06/2022 @jacobwilks9204: I like dev0s skin (don't ask why I'm bringing his skin up).
11/06/2022 @hiphyro: @jacobwilks9204 I think it’s cool too
11/06/2022 @iamjustKiko: I really hope after all of this is finished we can get a full playable version of this, i'd legit love playing this
11/06/2023 @UnderscoreAngel: this arg is taking place in a sort of alternative timeline, since it shows things that never got into our universe, they are literally fighting the 17th colossus, i also wonder how Super Meat Boy looks in this alternative timeline lol.
11/06/2022 @talonzdominoez5359: This "Earlier Hub" looks scarily similar to The Backrooms, the corridor design, the sound that plays, and the weird chandelier-like thing in the center.
11/06/2022 @Morality9: Imagine if there's a Steve like head block located somewhere in the ground, going by the name of 1 specific letter, telling you that itself "Is useless. For now."
11/06/2022 @melody5296: They even had release candidates? Weird. Also how did they make the blocks look that cursed?
11/06/2022 @shapeswitch_mood7221: I would love to think this is a fancy new kind of transparent block where they act as an image overlay displayed.
But really it must be green blocks, for, green screen. :c
11/06/2022 @pmc_: They're probably drawn the same way as the End Portal and End Gateway - the texture is mapped in screen space rather than world space, so the texture stays static even as the camera moves
11/06/2022 @mayuna_: @pmc_ indeed, that's how they did it probably.
11/06/2022 @mahas2967: lwjgl + opengl magic
11/06/2022 @0x2480: green screen, in some of the older videos they open the block gui and you can see one of the blocks has been replaced with a fully green one
11/06/2022 @cocoonprince: @0x2480 im pretty sure these actually render like that instead of being chroma keyed in like the greenscreen block, as said in the above reply; after all, minecraft already has blocks that render similarly
11/06/2022 @spoono: @cocoonprince it didn't have any blocks that rendered like the end portal in the alpha versions.
11/06/2022 @cocoonprince: @spoono i mean moreso that we already have examples of screenspace rendering in minecraft, just not specifically the alpha versions
11/06/2022 @dopadream: @pmc_ You're kinda correct, as in, it achieves the same effect, but the end portal gateway / end gateway use special shaders that would not have been possible at this time, so it had to have been either a legacy version of the end gateway rendering or custom made
11/06/2022 @DryCryCrystal: @dopadream It's chroma keyed 100% you can easily see that it is
11/06/2022 @nomenomeha30anosatras33: @shapeswitch_mood7221 i don't think that's it, they would take a long time to do this perfectly without any kind of error, read the guy's comment below, i believe he is right.
11/06/2022 @diamondheart470: This mystery has gotta be solved eventually cuz this is one awesome mystery
11/06/2022 @yellow64: Happy first anniversary Minecraft 1.0.16 Versions!!
11/06/2023 @chinenseelf: This is like minecraft if it were a true RPG sandbox game, instead of just a sandbox game
11/06/2022 @AlexanTheMan: Hopefully we can access the hub world(s) ourselves one day
11/06/2022 @richp4698: I know none of the modded version's featured were shown in this video aside from things related to the hub, but I still have to say I thoroughly enjoy the changes made in the jars provided. They actually take care of features that felt like they were "missing" in the alpha versions. The jump/sprint mechanic is really fun and the fact that giants are semi-functional is just great. I always wanted the giants to become an actual enemy or boss. The hunger mechanic, while likely intended to be annoying, just fits with alphas's design and actually takes care of the fact beds don't exist so you've actually got things to do instead of just standing around waiting for the sun to come up. On a personal level this kinda is closer to the direction I thought minecraft might go back then.
11/06/2022 @legoinferno7: I just love how one of the devs just passed by lol, they probably didn't saw them or something like that
11/06/2022 @V_SABITRON: surely Shadow of the Colossus (the game being viewed in the second window) has some significance here
11/06/2022 @koolam6914: nah bro was just tired of the queue so he watched a video
11/06/2022 @hiphyro: being a secret seeker is a pretty similar interest to looking at a weird branch of Minecraft
11/06/2022 @Y2KCore: You can see at 0:10 that the video is titled "SotC worm (17) fight" - There are only 16 colossi in the game and none of them are a worm, although there is concept art of a worm boss that was never put in the game. Not sure if it's significant per se but definitely a reference to the longstanding rumors about being able to fight a 17th colossus.
11/06/2022 @psga5555: Seeing the name of the video the recorder was watching made my blood boil for some reason
11/06/2022 @synexiasaturnds727yearsago7: @Y2KCore it's a popular urban legend in gaming apparently
02/06/2024 @123-b1r: offtopic, his wallpaper is really good and abstract, i actually want that on my PC
11/06/2023 @ttfirebubbles: Can’t believe they thought that music was at all fucking calming
01/06/2024 @epicCoolgiytryhsrfsea: Fun Fact, the world at the end of the video is the same world from Unknown Version, but with the structures removed.
