Right off the bat the low render distance fog sets such an eerie tone. The foot steps are so strange, loud and crunchy at some places it’s hard to tell if it’s coming from the player, the animals, or an unseen entity. The constant glances behind instill so much anxiety, especially right after hearing the sudden overlapping footstep sound effects. One thing that stood out to me was the sound effect at 0:39, maybe it’s just a thing with the older version (which I can’t remember much of anything about) but it sounded like something broke a nearby stone block or maybe something was under the player, fumbling in a stone cave beneath. So much of this video feels like you’re being quietly stalked and it really freaks me out. The ending feels like the most unsettling as it’s just.. Nothing. It’s not a new biome or spooky dark dimension, it’s just a cave made of netherock lined with torches. I don’t get scared easily but I think the implication that someone had been there before the player to place those torches down there seriously makes me uncomfortable. I wonder, what is at the end of the depths of those tunnels?
